The Air Jordan 4 'Military Blue' traces its roots to 1989, when Tinker Hatfield introduced the silhouette in four original colorways. The Military Blue was the only OG Air Jordan 4 colorway that did not align with the Chicago Bulls' red-and-black palette, giving it a distinct identity from the start. It was also notably never worn on-court by Michael Jordan, adding to its cult status among collectors.

The 2024 retro, released on May 4, 2024, marks the shoe's 35th anniversary and is widely regarded as the most faithful retro of this colorway to date. Unlike the 2006 and 2012 retros — which altered the shape and omitted the original heel branding — the 2024 edition restores the OG last and brings back the Nike Air heel tag, making it the last original Air Jordan 4 colorway to receive that treatment. The official colorway is Off-White/Military Blue/Neutral Grey (FV5029-141).

Construction features a smooth off-white leather upper with quarter-panel mesh netting, tonal nubuck forefoot overlay, and military blue applied to the molded eyelet wings, heel tab, and midsole accents. Neutral grey touches on the forefoot and outsole balance the palette. A woven tongue tag carries a blue Jumpman logo, and a visible encapsulated Air-Sole unit sits in the heel.
