The Air Jordan 12 Retro "Reverse Flu Game" is a deliberate inversion of one of the most storied colorways in Jordan Brand history. The original "Flu Game" 12 — worn by Michael Jordan during his legendary 38-point performance in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals — featured a black leather upper with Varsity Red overlays. This 2020 retro flips that hierarchy entirely, leading with a rich Varsity Red suede upper and contrasting black pebbled leather mudguard. Tinker Hatfield's Rising Sun-inspired silhouette forms the foundation, with tonal zigzag stitching reinforcing the shoe's iconic paneling.

Construction details stay true to the AJ12 lineage: black rope laces, matte chrome eyelets, a black embroidered Jumpman and "Two 3" branding on the red suede tongue, a carbon fiber midfoot shank plate, and a full-length Zoom Air unit housed in a soft foam midsole — the first full-length Zoom Air placement on a Jordan signature shoe. The black rubber outsole features two traction pods and a herringbone tread pattern. A woven "JORDAN" heel tab and red Jumpman at the toe round out the build.
