adidas Yeezy Boost 700 Wave Runner — The Sneaker That Changed Yeezy
The adidas Yeezy Boost 700 Wave Runner (style code B75571) made its debut in November 2017 as the inaugural colorway of the Yeezy 700 silhouette, first previewed during the Yeezy Season 5 fashion show earlier that year. Designed by veteran sneaker designer Steven Smith in collaboration with Kanye West, the Wave Runner marked a decisive shift in the Yeezy line — moving away from minimalist knit runners toward a bold, chunky, 90s-inspired dad shoe aesthetic.
The upper layers grey mesh and premium leather with black suede overlays and teal mesh underlays, creating a textured, multi-material construction. Orange hits accent the thick full-length Boost midsole, while a 3M reflective element on the heel and Three Stripes branding round out the design. A rubber outsole and OrthoLite insole complete the build. The Wave Runner has since seen multiple restocks — including a wide release in March 2022 and again in 2024 — cementing its status as one of the most recognizable silhouettes in the adidas Yeezy line.
