Part of Nike Sportswear's ongoing celebration of Latino Heritage Month, the Air Max 1 "Familia" dropped on September 27, 2023, continuing a tradition that followed the earlier "La Familia" and "Solos Familia" collections. The design pays tribute to the vibrancy of Latin American culture through a rich, multi-material build and an eye-catching palette rooted in Hemp, Pinksicle, and Sanddrift tones.

The upper combines mesh, leather, suede, and corduroy across its panels, with pink suede on the mudguard, a corduroy Swoosh on the quarter, and embroidered details throughout. A Sail midsole houses a visible Air unit in the heel, while the outsole cycles through green, yellow, red, and Pinksicle hues. The "Familia" emblem appears on the right tongue, insoles, and packaging as a direct nod to the collection's familial theme.

The Air Max 1 silhouette — originally designed by Tinker Hatfield and debuted in 1987 — is notable as the first Nike shoe to expose the Air cushioning unit to the world, making it one of the most storied platforms in the Nike Air Max lineage.
